But it’s very recommended to play at least Sumikas and Meiyas route, as mentioned before. I don’t think you have to play Extra in order to play and understand Unlimited. Except for the characters, you already know, it could be a completely different game as well. Yet I didn’t think it would be this different. I played this game knowing Extra was a slice of life Novel and Unlimited and Alternative being Sci-Fi. While Extra was a fluffy slice of life Novel, Unlimited is a Sci-Fi with the story being in the focus. Muv-Luv suddenly completely shifted its genre.
It’s quite short, though it didn’t feel like there was anything important missing. Is this all just a dream? Or is it something much more complex?Įven this game didn’t let me down. Nothing is like it was before and nobody seems to remember him, though everyone he knew was there too, except one important person missing. Our hero wakes up one day and finds himself in a different world, humans being close to extinction while fighting against aliens. Muv-Luv UnlimitedUnlimited is the second game of the Muv-Luv Trilogy and also the shortest one out of all three games. Actually, Extra is completed in its own way and if you just want to enjoy a fluffy love story, you can stop here. If you’re into slice of life or just fluffy romance I would definitely recommend it, though!Įxtra was very different from Unlimited and Alternative, yet they simply complete each other. But, like everyone, I think you should play at least Sumikas and Meiyas route to know the characters beforehand, as you will miss a lot of important building up and background information. I heard many people tend to skip Extra because of the mentioned aspects. It offers fluffy romance instead and it’s “only” a build-up game for Unlimited and Alternative. If you expect a real plot, I’m afraid you’re wrong here. It was fun to listen to the little girls squeaking!Įxtra is a heavy slice of life Novel. It also perfectly fits with the funny moments! The voice acting was superb in all three games as well and quite lively. You really can tell how detailed it was made and there was really a lot of effort put into it. The same goes for Unlimited and Alternative of course. I was stunned at the animations when I started the game. Each character was so different, yet lovable and cute in their own way. And Extra definitely didn’t let me down, I was laughing and crying while reading. It’s a really important thing for me in a Visual Novel. Who is Meiya? And what does she want from Takeru?įirst of all, I really have to mention the character development in this game. His childhood friend Sumika noticed she might lose him if she doesn’t act fast. This girl, named Meiya, claimed they are destined for each other despite never meeting him before. Takeru wakes up one day and finds himself being in bed with a girl he never met before. Muv-Luv ExtraLet’s start with Extra, the first game of the Muv-Luv Trilogy.
